Miva Merchant 5.5 Dream Features

If you could have any feature built right into Miva Merchant 5 what would it be? How would you improve on any current features in Miva Merchant 5? What modules would you like to see developed for Miva Merchant 5?

The only way to support CSS, is to ensure that ALL Mark is accessable. In other words, you do NOT want Merchant to establish CSS selectors where you can't get at them. No offense...cause you don't want ME to do it either. CSS selector logic is a VERY personal thing.

Very true and not many people realize that.

My features:
100% control over layout/functionality
No proprietary languages -- PHP/mysql is my request
Better developer documentation
Better help files
AJAX admin interface
One/Two screen checkout process
Extended customer information - memorize multiple addresses, credit info like big sites do

The good news is that if you asked me what features I wanted before moving to Miva 5, my list would be a lot longer!

From within the Miva Admin, the ability to search on page templates. For example, I often want to find a particular tag in one of the pages. Currently, I have to copy the page template to my text editor and do a search from there.

This leads me to my next request. The ability to use your own text editor to modify page templates. If there was a way I could push a button which downloads and opens my preferred text editor, I could then modify the changes and save them back automatically. That would be awsome.

Dynamic attributes (drop down attribute options based on previous selections). I'm surprised that after almost 8 years, this has never been developed.

- Shipping method logic that recognizes an APO/military address and offers only valid options or a special flat fee conditionally.
- Better control over the shipping options that are presented -- both over what appears based on definable address conditions (ie: AK, HI, PR, APO), and how they are named and the order they are presented in the menu.

- Better multiple product images/views, provided as a token or page component you can choose to use or customize.

- Breadcrumb trail available as a token we can choose to include in page code.

- Streamline the checkout process: combine the Create Account and Shipping/Billing Address pages.
- Combine selecting the "pay with" method and inputting the card info like the rest of the world does -- or at least provide an optional page that offers this.
- Better foreign address behavior in checkout: recognize that a non-us country may not have State or Province data. Don't lose the country selection in error conditions that return you to the address screen.
