    Default PayPal IPN Issue

    Today (Jan 28, 2013) the PayPal IPN stopped working in mine and several other stores which are using my PayPal module. The customer can go to PayPal and make the payment. But PayPal is not posting back to update the orders in Miva Merchant. Until the issue can be resolved, I suggest you go to admin > global settings > search on paypalr on the right. Click Edit button. Uncheck the Active box. Click the Update button.

    It was broken in our stock module too, but it appears to have fixed itself.

    It looks like a screen at the end of payments at the PayPal site has changed a bit. So they probably turned off the server that does the IPN posts and forgot to turn it back on. Or they got bogged down and it took all day to sort it out. Thanks for checking on your IPN/standard module too. I changed my basket timeout in my store to 1400 in case PayPal re-sends the IPN posts that were suspended during the outage. If the basket times out before the IPN posts, the basket will not get converted to an order.

    Here's the PayPal status updates related to yesterday's outage. https://www.x.com/content/resolved-i...ns-ipns-jan-27 If you extended your basket timeout setting yesterday, your baskets would not have expired and would have been updated to orders when PayPal sent out the backlog of IPN posts. That is something to keep in mind if/when another outage occurs. It has happened in the past and will likely happen again.

    This is an old thread... I found a handful of IPN failures in our order batch today though. We use Paypal Payments Standard v5.8002.

    Is anyone else experiencing these issues?

    I recommend moving to Payments Pro vs. Standard. Standard has always had a high failure rate in my opinion.
