I need assistance for a client of mine - Miva is not supporting this module anymore...
We recently upgraded to the Pro version of Subscribe2 - the module is not integrated with the Miva store (MM 5).
I am getting the following error message when trying to send out a
mailing:
Runtime error in subscribe2/outbox.mvc @00000002:000002ce]: f:sitesv4cSUBSCR~1outbox.mv: Line 262: MvSMTP: Syntax error in parameters or arguments. Syntax error in parameters or arguments.
From:info@kitchencollage.com
- any help is appreciated. I send a test message and that worked fine.
Thanks for your input!

Get Scot's Mailing List 3 (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=m&Product_Code=AVANT-SMR_SM&ref=WPAW) instead. Its supported, and available for Merchant 4 and 5.

Thanks Vic - but that's not an option at this time for this client - any idea what the problem might be? It sends out a single test message fine, just not to the list...

Without seeing what you see...my first reaction is a bad email address. Bad character or non-alphanumeric in the second email address in the list if you say the first email is going out.

I found one bad email and deleted it from the list - I can go through once more - the email that went was a test emial send to me

When you get the error on the screen, view the page source and find the error. Usually the source of the html gives you much more detail about the error. If you can find it an paste it here into a message - we might be able to whittle down where the issue is.

Dear S. Sharp:
Did you ever get your problem fixed???
Also, does your clients version of Subscribe2 pro work with the subscribe integration module? I cannot for the life of me get it to work.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi Mark - no - I didn't get it fixed, yet - they are not using the integration module, however, I have used it in MM4 stores without any problems - what is it doing, or NOT doing?

Hi there, Sabine. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
what is it doing, or NOT doing?
It is SUPPOSED to have a check box on the customer order information page that allows the customer to automatically sign up for the newsletter
(actually, since we now have four newsletters, it is supposed to have four check boxes)
However, that checkbox does not appear at all on the customer order information page.
It USED to appear fine when we were only using the original version of Subscribe2 with the integration module. But now that we have upgraded to Subscribe2 PRO, it stopped working.
It is really driving me up the wall. Miva had stated there was "lifetime" support, which I thought meant "my lifetime." But nooooooooo... it means the lifetime of the product, which they conveniently decided that it had reached the "end of the product's life" and hence stopped providing support. :<
So now I have to try and find a work around for this. If you know a way to automatically have a form with a checkbox to appear for the customer to joing MULTIPLE email newsletters, then please do let me know.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark - I am running into the same problem regarding support...
to make it clear - now the newsletter signup doesn't appear at all in the checkout process anymore?
Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the module?

Hi there, Sabine:
You are correct. At first, it didn't show up at all.
So several times I deleted the checkbox module, packed the domain, packed the store, and reinstalled the module. It stll didn't show up.
I did it again the other day and went into the Subscribe2 Pro admin panel and packed data there, and it started showing up. But only showed ONE check box (since I have four different newsletters, it is suposed to have FOUR checkboxes by defalut). The unfortunate thing about that was that one checkbox didn't work anyway.
I have tried using the check for updates feature built into the module. It tells me there is a new version available, which I then download and unpack, and it is the same version I already have installed.
So I have started working on a different approach. I have disabled the subscribe2 checkbox module altogether and instead am using william weiland's ( www.emporiumplus.com (http://www.emporiumplus.com) ) addendum module to ask whether the customer wants to sign up for my newsletter. This method is not perfect though, because I will have to review the orders by hand and then add them to my mailing list by hand.
However, that is still better than having an "automatic nothing," which is what the subcribe2 checkbox module was doing.
Thanks again sabine, and best with your clients' problems. If itweren't for the Miva community and the great hosting help I get with hostasaurus, I would have dropped Merchant like a bad habbit long ago...

Hey again, Sabine:
OK, I think I got it to start working correctly, but it took a while and I had to make sacrifices.
1) Firstly, I had to go into the checkbox admin and disbale the module.
2) then I went to the sytem extension modules page and unchecked the checkbox module
3) then I went to modules and deactivvated the module
4) then I deleted the module, and packed everything I could
5) the I reuploaded the module, packed everything, activated the module, enaled the module, packed everything a third time, cursed, prayed, crossed my fingers, threw salt over my shoulder, placed a test order, and it worked!!!
Not really....
The check boxes showed up ok!
But no email address was captured or added to the subscribe2 database!!!!
So I realized that I am using Viking Coders other page templates for the OSEL page (the one following the order information page).
So I went into other page templates module and changed the OSEL page back from my modified version to the default version, and..
It works!!!
But now I am stuck with the default OSEL page, which I don't like, so I am going to contact Viking Coders and see if their is a way to get it to work with Subscribe 2 Pro.
Will let you know how it works. I think the key to getting this moule to work corrctly was the alternate cussing and praying.
