View Full Version : Is there anyone who use Google checkout for International order?

Hi, when I set up the google checkout on my site (using MIVA 5), I tested myself but when I filled in International address (like Japan as the country code) in the MIVA checkout section, the Google gave the message "this seller doesn't ship outside US". So, my google checkout is now limited to US customer only.
Is there anybody successly could process any international order via Google checkout?

Hi,
I do not use Google checkout but I am busy to get the necessary pieces to implement it.
As for the world areas, you should have a look to the Google API: there is a set of rules that you can find under "world-area" and which might help you.

I am just trying to implement it today. My primary reason for choosing GCO is for the primarily for it's capability of processing international orders. Secondly to use in conjunction with some ADwords.
My biggest dissapointment so far and it's mostly from my lack of technical know how (I suppose) is implementing shipping rates for international. My understanding is that it is not capable of using carrier calculated shipping which would have made it easy for me. I am about to open a mock international google check out account (If allowed) in order to see what an international customer might see once checking out.
From my reading and understanding there is a lot of coding I don't understand in order to allow proper shipping calculations. Some merchants even making international shipping a purchase (such as a product) which I think is an inconvience to the customer. Furthermore most of the coding I have seen refering to is HTML coding. In my case I used XML which thankfully (due to my lack of skils) is integrated in MM5. But I believe I am going to be limited with what I can customize (relying on my own skills). For instance this is the form that is generated by Miva XML.

There is a lot of charactors behind the "><input type="hidden" name="cart" that shows up on my view source that seems to be generated by the cart items. I am not sure from where or what control panel I would go to customize shipping for international?
I am about to go the route of having customers purchase international shipping, but since I have a lot of products with various weights it may be difficult to properly relay how much shipping they should buy.
I think also many of the information I am reading is dated and maybe there are fixes for this problem. Any run into this or have ideas?
