I have been looking at Google Checkout .. and looking and looking. It sounds like such a good thing. The top search engine would flag my site with their simplified checkout process in search results. The shopper would use a checkout process they are familiar with, or will soon become familiar with. If I were to implement Google Checkout, I would be one of the few sites in my market offering it.

However, reading about the implementation errors and problems has me concerned. Is this implementation hurdle worth the effort? and, is the hurdle conquerable? Is there a "handy-dandy" checklist of obstacles to avoid? or what to do when they are encountered? Better yet, is there a vendor that will install Google Checkout?

I want to install Google Checkout, but too scared to make a move.

It works well if you do not mind losing the ability to use many "post checkout" modules - such as third party shipping, coupon, discount, data collection, and gift certificate modules.

Many of them are not compatible with Google Checkout...rather I should say...Google Checkout is not compatible with the 3rd party modules, and since Google takes over the checkout process from the basket screen on - it circumvents the standard checkout process.

We were considering going with Google checkout and in the end decided against it.
Its too new, and there are too many bugs and issues as Vic described.

Thanks for the insight. I don't have the time to babysit the implementation. So now is not the right time for me. Maybe as it improves.

thanks again,
