Hello Community Members,
Pamela brought up a good point. Since we are all familiar with the email lists, we all know eachother from our email addresses. Now we have these new-fnagled screen names and some may not recognize their list pals.
So, this thread is a chance to introduce who you are, what you do, how long you've been a "Mivite", and maybe post something people don't know about you.
I'll go first...
Name: Jimmy Cooper
What I do: I am currently the Marketing Manager here at MIVA Small Business. I am in the process of transitioning over to Product Management. You may know me best as the crazy person running around each Conference, making sure everything runs perfectly.
Mivite since: I started my career here at MIVA in 2001. Yep, I'm considered an "old-timer" around here.
Something you may not know: I'm a rabid Disney / Disneyland fan. However, if you ever see my desk, you may notice that already.
Ok, who's next?
Note: We'll move this thread over to the full forums on Wed. so we have all the info.

Something you may not know: In addition to offering superior hosting, WolfPaw Computers also offers custom MIVA scripting, application developemnt, consulting, and still serves several "break & fix" and network administration" customers locally. While I'm the name you'll see most often, our Sr. Developer Rick Fisher posts to the coders list now and then.
On a more personal note: I am an avid bowler and volunteer as a director with the local county bowling association promoting the concept of organized bowling as a sport, primarily to the youth bowlers.
And of course, I love all things wolf, including sponsoring 3 wolves at various wildlife resecue/rehabilitation/reintroduction facilities throughout the US.

Jimmy,
On a similar note, this might be a good topic for its own forum...Community Introductions.
Might give a good place for people to see who it is they are talking to, pitch their site(s) and wares.
We often see requests on the list where someone in the community is looking to purchase an item and is looking to patronize a fellow Mivite.

What I do: Ecommerce consultant, specializing in Miva Merchant stores. I have the rare combination of technical, artistic and marketing capability where I can design a highly usable, beautiful site from scratch, and still create highly tokenized code to fudge Miva Merchant into doing things it was never designed to do!
Mivite since: August '02. I started as an end-user, designing a site for the national health products company I was VP of Operations for. Through participation on the user list, people started hiring me, and I've had steady work non-stop based solely on referrals, full time for over 2 years.

Mivite since: Oh - long time.. I was an HTMLScriptite back before MIVA was Miva.
Something you may not know: I no longer work for MIVA. Julie and I decided that this thread was as good a time as any to spread that word. I left MIVA at the end of last week on very good terms having spent 18 months on the "inside". It was fun and I'm very happy with the direction the company is going in, and glad that I played a part in it. Some people just are not cut out for Corporate America, and 18 months was what I had in me before deciding that it would be best for all if I parted ways.

Welcome to the forums Jeff.
Is your service compatible with MIVA Merchant? As in are you folks familiar with the shopping cart and are able to integrate your services with it?
Depends on the medium you would choose to transmit data to our warehousing operations. We also have software developers who specialize in EDI applications, so integrating with MIVA wouldn't be a problem.
We are interested in forming a working business relationship with MIVA, and will be contacting them to see what type of options may be available to help us with the integration process for any of their customers that may choose to do so - perhaps something along the lines of a preferred vendor program. We are currently a preferred national vendor for a few other larger franchise corporations.

Name: Joe Malewicki
What I do: Try to pay the bills while living in Fairfield County CT! I actually worked for Hyperion Solutions (now Oracle) for 10 years as a Technical Specialist. Now - I pack boxes of sauce and make gift baskets for a living (hopefully a lot more then I've been doing in the past year). Basically I built and have been running ceriellofinefoods.com for about 6 years now part time. I used to have pallets of sauce in my basement and Holiday shipping always was fun (wife loved having boxes in our living room next to the tree). I decided 1 year ago this week to leave my "secure and financially stable" corporate world job and go head on into the eCommerce world. I'm self taught for web-design and "barely" Miva knowledgeable but thanks to the help I receive from these forums I think we may be able to launch our new Miva 5 site in the very near future!
Mivite since: July 2007 (using since 2001)
Something you may not know: I married my high school sweetheart who I met in the Soviet Union in 1990 on an overnight train to Leningrad. The funny thing is we only lived about 26 miles away from each other back home in CT! We have 2 kids (Noah who turned 3 in July 2007) and our little princess Olivia (4 months old). She wasn't part of the "master plan" when I quit my job last year. Oops.
I can't offer much in the way of "Miva advice" right now since I'm really just beginning to dig into it but I can leave a thought for all you "eCommerce die-hards" trying to make a living off the Internet:
"An optimist is someone who goes after Moby Dick in a rowboat and takes the tartar sauce with him."
So grab your tartar sauce and get in your boat!
Thanks again everyone!

Mivite since: I started with the company circa October 2005, so that was when I was first introduced to it all.
Something you may not know: I have recently become addicted (literally addicted) to wakeboarding and I plan on trying out wakeskating as soon as the weather in St. Louis gets back to warm -- it's going to be a long winter.
More tidbits: My strongest language is PHP, and I have a ton of experience with XHTML and CSS (I have been making tableless webpages since before it became the "cool thing to do"). I have spent countless hours making our Miva store use as much PHP as possible, including complete rewrites of the category pages, product pages and the login screen. We also use a custom admin interface and numerous intranet applications for managing the website.

What I do: Currently, I am working with eMediaSales (http://www.emediasales.com) company
Mivite since: Since Jan, 2006. I joined MIVA Operation in India as a Support Engineer and left the company as a Sr. System Analyst. From the very first day, I liked the way MIVA software (specially MIVA Merchant and MIVA Script) work. I tried hard to learn MIVA Scripting and as a result I have a small MIVA documentation (hard copy) library at my home. I have almost all the books and reference materials which are related to MIVA software.
Something you may not know: I like to work in the night and full time in the weekend. I appreciate all the employees of MIVA for their efforts to make this company a unique one in the world and my special thanks goes to Mr. Mark Hughes, Mr. Clark, James McCormick, Cagdas Ucar, Alex, Scott, Keith, Dennis and all. <br>
Mr. James E Harrell is my ideal guru and I want to follow their steps to become a perfact technologist.

What I do: I began doing SEO work as the webmaster of a software company in the suburbs of Boston. My job there started out being about cleaning up errors in the code, adding new content, and looking for ways to get our potential customers to find us. This led to my discovery of the concept of search engine optimization, through a newsletter offered by the makers of a software application I used. Through my own research, I found other sources, spent a lot of time studying (as I still do), and eventually everything I did with that site was based on the concepts of SEO.
I'm now a freelance SEO and SEM consultant. I still do the occasional design of new web sites, but I don't consider that my profession. I consult with companies, individuals, and organizations on both new and pre-existing sites, doing all I can to make them as good as they can be and to send them increased traffic from exactly the audience they seek to serve.

Let me "re-introduce" myself. Many of you have known me as Leslie Nord (leslienord) - Friend of Miva Merchant, Volunteer Moderator, Webs Your Way, that annoying chick who's always taking pictures at the Miva (Merchant) Conferences and maybe by a few other things ;)
Technically, I have been Leslie Kirk since 1999, some of you even got to meet my husband at the last conference, but I continued to use Leslie Nord for a number of reason, one being so many of you knew me as that.
Some of you may have noticed the "Super Moderator" under my user name and wondered "how did she do that?" A few weeks back the opportunity of my life time presented itself and I now work for Miva Merchant. This has been my dream ever since I started working with Miva Merchant v1 back in 1997/98.
I owe a big thanks to James Harrell of eMediaSales (http://www.emediasales.com) and the opportunities that he has given me throughout all these years, starting back with the Copernicus Business Club have been priceless. I truly feel the time I have spent working with him has helped to open the door to my dream.
So I've hit the ground running and am very excited. I can't wait to see everyone again in February at the Miva Merchant Conference (http://www.mivamerchant.com/conference_2009/)!
Something you may not know: I coach Pee Wee bowlers - ages 3 to about 8.
