View Full Version : online order management

I have a client that sells hundreds of different styles of shoes online. They also have 10 brick and mortar retail stores. The online inventory is not directly connected to the inventory system for the stores. So, the inventory is managed by hand for now. Therefore, a lot of orders come through that can not be completely fullfilled.

The client would like to have the orders held online until the point at which they can bill and ship them. I need to have a system that can hold the credit card info and order info until an administrator determines that the products are available, and the credit card is ready to be billed. Only then will the card be processed. This may mean that only part of the order is ready to ship, so the order total will need to be adjusted before the order is billed.

Is there a system out there that works this way? Can it be written? It would also be great if the system could integrate with UPS Worldship, so that when an order is ready to bill, the card will charged the appropriate amount, and then UPS Worldship will be sent the shipping info, and the user will be sent a tracking number. Am I asking for the impossible here?

Also, if the system could make me an espresso that would great. :)

Thanks for your help.

Best,
Matt

This is already built in to most real-time payment gateways.

Its called Auth Only. Rather than charging the credit card, it obtains an authorization and approves the order. At a later date, you mark the order as processed and capture the funds and you can enter the info into UPS Worldship.
