A couple years ago I started to become a MIVA partner, but decided against it for legal reasons. I would like to become a MIVA partner now, though. So, I completed the form on the web site on February 9th:

http://smallbusiness.miva.com/partners/signup/

On February 10th, I got an error email back:

The original message was received at Fri, 9 Feb 2007 21:13:57 -0800 from vulpix.miva.com [127.0.0.1]
----- Transcript of session follows ----- jon.clark@miva.com... Deferred: Connection timed out with mail.miva.com.

So, I sent an email to sales@miva.com on February 11th. I've never gotten a response. So, on the 13th I sent a private message here to William Mayo. No response. So yesterday I sent an email to info@miva.com about it. No response so far.

So, here I am, with money in hand, wanting to become a partner, and I can't get it done even a week later. It's either because they don't want ME to become a partner, or something else. Maybe MIVA now has so much money that a measely partner fee isn't worth responding for?? Anyone have any idea what might be up, since MIVA won't tell me?

Chuck, for what it's worth, I joined the partner program (more precisely, re-joined after a year or so off) just a few weeks ago, and the process was reasonably smooth. Jon Clark is the guy I've been dealing with, and the email address you gave for him was working for me at that time.

Thanks, Kent. I'll try emailing him directly. I figured he might have been one of the layoffs and was gone...

WTF... apparently they don't want my money either, because I send an email to sales@miva.com, called them, filled out a partner interest form, and still no response. What do I need to do in order to get some information on the partner program? I have a feeling Miva is missing out on a lot of sales is somebody like me has to WORK to get information about how I can pay them $400 / year. Jeeze, sometimes I wonder why I even use miva.

I did finally get an email from Jon Clark, Jon.Clark@miva.com, but by then, I was in Hawaii, and I spent the money I had to join on food and beach goods! I have to save up again....

How can they just ignore their customers requests to pay them for thier services?? I don't understand how a company who doesn't even answer the emails sent to sales@miva.com manages to make a profit. Who is selling their products??

They sell their licenses in bulk to hosts mostly. So the hosts are doing most of the selling. I wish they had some funding to really push Miva Merchant so there'd be more users....

I'm losing my interest in Miva by the day. The only reason we use it is because my boss has been using it since version 2, and there really is nothing I've found that is much better. I can't wait until devnetstore is finished (see signature)

Me too Chuck, me too. Maybe we should start a MIVA Users lottery pool and if we win we buy the company!

Your not alone, we have heard from people interested in Miva Merchant hosting that often report they emailed Miva Sales with questions about Miva Merchant and haven't received any reply.

I guess all the cut backs in there sales and marketing staff aren't going to help the situation.

Thank you,

hmm... I sent him a link to this thread and he responded right away. We just got off the phone with him. We're going to sign up to become partners within the next few weeks.

What in the world could he have said? Did you know about the Miva Design Service (another thread) when you signed up?

How do you go from disgusted to a convert in one converstation?

Details...please!

Actually, I'm kind of back to being irritated with them again. Jon was very helpful while we were on the phone with him, and he made us feel like valued customers, but after that phone call, it was just like it was before. I guess I spoke too soon.
