Custom Gift Baskets

I have a client who sells gourmet foods and needs the purchaser to be able to assemple custom gift baskets from a choice of products (drop down for each item?) with predefined number of products (like 4,5, 6, etc, while adding a custom message for each basket. This would also have to work with the mulit address shipping feature. Is there a way to do this in Miva?

Not currently.

There are no modules to handle multi-addresses for MM5. It can be done however in MM4, since modules are available.

The number of products could be done, but it would take some very creative StoreMorph and javascript coding to handle the min/max number of products for the gift basket.

Make 4 drop down select attributes which the customer can select from. Use a text area attribute for the gift message.

WCW, could you elaborate on how to implement the custom gift baskets as you suggested? I haven't purchased Miva yet, so any insight if this is possible for a non programmer (do have html skills) would be very helpful. I'm assuming it would take some custom coding that I may not be able to do. Thanks.

Also WCW, could you elaborate on the actual coding it would take to offer this customization? I'm not really a programmer (just HTML and ASP skills), and any insight on the amout of work it would take to offer the custom basket option would be helpful.

Support for multiple shipping addresses, as Vic said, is available off-the-shelf for Merchant 4, but not for 5. it could be done for 5 as a custom project, but it could a pretty big job, depending on how fancy you want to get.

However, the top MIVA Hosting Specialists in the community (such as ourselves) still offer MM4 for clients that wish it.
