Module or Custom for Price by Text Field

Looking for a way to customize the product details page for letter making company. I know I can use attributes to choose materials, fonts, size, etc. but the client wants to be able to add text and have the amount change based on the number letters entered in the field.

Is there a module for this? Or do I need to do some custom work? Maybe a workaround or solution I haven't heard of?

The base price is 2.00. It is set for the first 5 words free (no extra above the base price). Now enter the following text

Did you put in more than five words

That is 3 words you will get charge at 10 cents per word. Click the add to basket button. View the basket contents. The base + per word price is $2.30. It is working as expected.
