Recently upgraded in need of help

We just recently migrated our store from miva version 3.01 to the latest 5.0 version and I am having some trouble adjusting. We imported the old database and all the products are listed as such Z3033/8 ZG-AB, in 5.0 I get an error everytime I update or add a product says / and - are not allowed. Is there anyway around that?

My other problem is in the old version I was able to view all uncategorized products. When I try to do the same in miva 5 I get a listings of all the products in the store categorized or not. I got to products and go to uncategorized, am I doing something wrong?

You can go to Domain Settings > Site Configuration and turn off strict validation for codes to get your product codes working, but your current product code configuration is not the best. Ideally, product codes should contain only letters, numbers, and hyphens or underscores.

Are you sure that your products are assigned to categories but still showing as unassigned? If you go to one of your categories, and click products > assigned, are the assigned products showing correctly?

I am aware it is not the best setting for the product format but our company is very old this product format has carried over to every system we have. It would confuse our salespeople if it was changed unless we made a big system change.

Our company has been using that format for some time, I would frankly change it but it would confuse the sales people.
