Not if you mean you actually want to assign another product as an attribute.

There was another discussion on this topic not too long ago: http://extranet.miva.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6484&highlight=products+attributes

Might help...

We're thinking of duplicating all our products as attribute templates. So each product would be able to add other "products" as attributes. Since we would only be using attribute templates and each template would be just one product it would be easy to modify the price of an "attribute product" then that would modify the attribut product price on all the real products that have that attribute. It's simpler than having a bunch of different attribute templates and individual attributes attached to all the products. It's getting really out of hand. Having each product duplicated as an attribute template seems to be the easiest way we can think of to handle this. Most of our 700 products are going to have attributes. It'll be a little time consuming manually creating all 700 attribute templates though because there is no import utility to create attribute templates. But this way I can at least import attribute template assignments to all my products at once via flat file. What do you guys think?

Attributes as "products" work big time. We know first hand and by accident because we didn't anticipate using attributes at all but now we need this new way to totally revamp our impossible to control system. Almost all products with attributes sell with one of the additional attribute "products" so it WORKS. Where as ppl used to just buy the 1 thing now they buy that 1 thing with 1 or 2 extra options. :)

I am confused as to how to practically do this?

One by one. It'll take all day. I thought maybe Emporium plus' attribute import/export module would do it but it's only for creating real attributes directly on the product, it can't create templates.

Well... it looks like I haven't gotten too many strange looks so tomorrow will be spent pecking away creating 701 attribute templates! woohoo...

Let us know how it works out. Perhaps you will come up with a shortcut in the process.
