Hey,
Im sure this has been asked before, but I would like some advice on wether we should upgrade to Miva 5.
We currently run a online store in Miva 4, and I mean it runs fine and we have no problems, but have started to think about upgrading.
What I would like to know is, is it a big job upgrading? Or is it simplier than I think? Would I have to build the store again in Miva 5 or is there a way to transfer the site over.
One of the reasons I would like to upgrade is I heard miva 5 has printer friendly pages, and currently our pages are not printer friendly at all.
Thanks.

This depends on you and how much you are willing to learn and do.
Is your store running OpenUI? Do you have third party modules installed?
If the answer is yes, then you will have to re-do most of your layout in MM5 as it will not migrate. Products, categories, etc will, but the layout will not.
As for modules, look at what you have installed and see if either there are MM5 versions available, or if the module is perhaps not needed with MM5.
Printer friendly? Which part(s)? With MM5 it is not printer friendly by default, however having more control over the page templates, you can indeed incorporate a more friendly design by trimming in the margins.

Thanks vic. I will look into it a bit more with your advice.
But yeah our product pages in V4 are not printer friendly, the image shows but the specs and description dont properly display on the page, some miss the page altogether. Any suggestions?

Stylesheet.
Use a stylesheet to define a print friendly page.
Try this reference: http://webdesign.about.com/cs/css/a/aa042103a.htm

vic,
I have been trying to do it that way all day. I know what I need to do is remove the left hand navigation, however I cannot get to the code that defines the table layout.
I was told in a thread in the 4 forums, that its impossible and I would need to disble openui.....
here is a link to my thread ->

I saw the other thread.
I dont see how disabling OpenUI would make any difference at all.
You just need to define a style in the category tree header, and close it in the category tree footer.
Even without OpenUI you do not have access to the cat tree code.
