View Full Version : Empressa v5.06 won't run uncompiled scripts

I was running an uncompiled mivascript application on a FreeBSD system with Empressa just fine.

I installed Empressa v5.06 on a new Linux Redhat system and the diag5.mvc script executes just fine and all the tests pass.

But anytime I try to browse to an uncompiled *.mv script, I get the error:

Unable to execute 'Merchant2/admin.mv': File is either corrupt or not a valid compiled Miva Script file

I have addTypes in httpd.conf for both .mvc and .mv and they both point to the cgi-bin/mivavm

Switching the application to a compiled mivascript is not an option.

Help!

Thanks,
John

Correct.

You need Empresa 3.9x to run uncompiled MIVAScript.

Empresa 4.x and later WILL NOT run uncompiled MIVAScript.

Why is compilling your script not an option?

How do we get a 3.9 version of Empressa for Linux?

We have our old Miva Merchant 3 license running an embedded site that we don't even want to think about the nightmare of upgrading. We just need to let it run on the new hardware we're in the process of switching to.

Empresa 3.9x was discontinued a few years ago.

You MAY be able to still purchase it (it was not free). Contact MIVA Sales sales@miva.com

... or check with your host to see if they still have any old copies of Empresa 3.9x available... That version used to be released in commercial, pay-per-use model, at $695 per server. MIVA may still sell it to you, even though it's no longer available on their web site, or your host may have a copy they could offer to you for free or small nominal fee.

I called Miva technical support about 6 months ago and they gave me a link to the 3.97 Linux Empresa Engine.
