Rodopi/MIVA and declined card alerts??

Why does my Rodopi payment gateway not alert me when customers use credit cards that are declined? Is it because my MIVA isn't set up correctly? Does the MIVA interface cancel these orders automatically?? I do not see any information for this in the admin interface.
