domain private registration

I just renewed some domains and godaddy offered private registration for free. Since I realized that some other organization will be the actual registrant I'm having second thoughts. Any opinions or experience will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Basically, all it does it prevent spammers from picking up you're email addresses on domain registrations though querying whois databases.

I'd avoid private registration if your customers are the type that may be very cautious about who they purchase from; private registration can sound like you're trying to hide your identity if they go that far in checking you out.

You can always just put an email address that you don't check often on the registration to cut down on spam if that's the issue.
