Hi,
I'm new to Miva and I have searched the forum to see if there is a similar issue like what we are experiencing. I didnt see any so here is my post.

We are running Miva Merchant 4.24 and MVM 5.04 the server we have it on is new and is running MS server 2003 and IIS 6. The problem is this at least once a week the site grinds to a halt (it is not a volume issue) but only if you try to add to or access the ?Basket?. We had this same problem while on an older server so running MS 2000 server. We thought at first that the older machines mother board or nic card might be failing so we moved to a new server but the problem is still there. We are now considering upgrading to MM 5. After reading about other MM5 moves this might not be the answer. Any help or advice would be appreciated
Thanks
Mike V

Unfortunately, there hasn't been any version of MM that plays well with any version of a Windows server. If you don't need a Windows server I would suggest switching server types. If you do need a Windows server - I would suggest moving your MM to a *nix type server. If you need a host that can offer this type of set up - contact Vic at WolfPaw.

Moving to Linix is not a solution. Could this be an issue of using a flate file system?

Nope - it's a Window/Empresa problem - long standing issues. Not sure how searchable the old lists (http://smallbusiness.miva.com/resources/archives/) are - but it's been an ongoing hot button issue.

You might still want to consider a two-platform solution.

Why is that?

Empresa has nerver performed well on Windows. This is due to all the memory leaks and problems inherent with the Windows OS' over the years that have never been addressed. This causes a very unstable platform for hosting MIVA Merchant on Windows.

We often setup customers hosting their store on Linux and a Windows front end for any Access DB, .asp or .net needs.
