Shipping Problem

Does anyone know how to set up USPS? It's asking for userID and password. Also, I thought UPS was all set but it's still saying "Unable to Calculate Shipping Costs." Any idea why?

You may want to review the MIVA Merchant manuals, which describe the process. Basically you need to create an account with USPS, which will assign you a user ID just for your store, and that's what you'll be using to configure this particular module. Until you establish an account with USPS and until you ask them to switch your account from test mode to live mode, you won't be able to use that module in your store. As far as UPS - it will depend on the module you are using. The built-in one that comes with Merchant may require a commerce library to be installed first on your server - check with your host to see if they can install it for you. If you are using a 3rd party UPS module - contact the module developer with this question.

ok, i think i have the usps part started ok. as far as ups goes, the hoster doesn't know about the commerce library - how do i know if i need that or not? do i just assume i need a module for this?

As for the commerce library, if your host doesnt know about this...you may want to reconsider who you are hosting with.

All hosting partners of MIVA have access to download needed commerce libraries and quite frankly, should be installed by default with every installation.

If they still have no clue - have them open a support ticket with MIVA, after all, as a partner, they do get support.

Yikes! Get a new host right now! You will pay for their lack of MIVA Merchat knowledge and support in the future....trust me.

I had lousy experiences with hosts with poor knowledge of MIVA quirks.
Any of the hosts on this forum are great!
