I am new to the MIVA 4, and I have a question about inventory and tracking.

When a customer adds a product to their cart and then decides not to buy that product, it still takes it away from my inventory. Is this normal or do I have something set wrong?

Thanks in advance.
Shannon

No, that is normal.

This is why maintenance on your store is very important.

Regularly delete expired baskets (not recovering order numbers) and pack your data. This will return any abandoned inventory back to stock.

Ok, I did this. It also put back inventory that was sold in the store. Is this normal as well?

Thanks

Are you sure about that?

It should only put inventory that has been added to a basket and NOT purchased.

Almost sure, I checked my inventory list from when I started the store. Now what it did do was put back inventory from one order that was completed. This particular order was payed for through Paypal. Should that make a difference?

It might.

Did you actually see that order in your unbatched orders in the store? Or did you only get the email confirmation from PayPal?

Both email and in the unbatched orders.

That's not right.

It should not be adding back inventory from orders that completed.

The best way to be sure, is wait until later or even tomorrow, and put the store in maintenance mode. Then delete all baskets and pack.

Check your stock. It should be decremented by only the number of completed orders.

Then take the store out of maintenance mode.

You may be seeing other expired baskets inventory counts that were recovered.

Thanks for your help. It is nice to know there is a place to go with questions?

Thanks again,
