Need recommendations for mail list distribution that can handle 100,000+ customers. Needs to have multiple mail list capability and be able to send to one or more of the lists (pick & choose).

For that volume you may want to use a service. Although both ScotMail (http://www.designextend.com/page/miva/PROD/scotmail) and Subscribe can allow for multiple lists, passing the emails through your own mail server normally has to be done in batches of 10-20 at a time, which would take forever.

I sort of figured that - any suggestions? The site is probably going to need a good host too - one that can handle the volume of traffic that these emails produce.

Hmmm, I'm using Constant Contact for 60,000+ (for the day job newsletter) and am very happy with it.

I've never used any of them so it's difficult for me to recommend, but if you're happy with Constant Contact, you might want to look at that.

As for the traffic, any of the good hosts should be able to do it - they're likely going to need a dedicated server (or VPS), and I'd recommend scaling down System Extension modules to handle great influx of simultaneous traffic.
