Now that I have used Copernicus Search Friendly Links, along with VC Product and Category Page Templates to shorten my website's links, a thought occured to me. Since the links now contain the specific category codes that are in my store, doesn't it make sense to now change the category codes in my store to match some of the key words I know customers are searching for? Thoughts?

Sure it does. And for spaces use the dash. For example:
candy-canes
sunglass-cases

It depends on where you are at now. If you are just starting, sure. If you want to do every little bit to help things along, you should make your urls better. Ultimate Seo Links (http://www.jmhonline.net/usl4) is a much better choice for shorter urls.

Is "Ultimate SEO Links" the equivalent to "Swap Links"? Does anyone have any preferences? Both products are from very reputable and well respected people -known for their ability to deliver as promised, excellent support and level professionalism.
Nevertheless, one product may have an advantage over the other. Such as ease of installation, configuration, feature, ease of usability or better documentation, intuitiveness, control panel, (Pros and Cons) etc..?
Obviously the most important thing is that the product performs as promised, but these other things I mentioned are also important –at least to me it is. I was still trying to figure out what that flashing 12:00 meant on my VCR –thank God for TiVo!

apples and oranges. Swap Links (http://www.jmhonline.net/swap4) is a sitemap module. Ultimate SEO Links (http://www.jmhonline.net/usl4) is the best "short link" module. You can use USL with SW. Get both.

thanks. will it work if I have sante fe mall and viking coder templates (store, product, category, etc)? The description made it sound like it wouldn't. I'm already having problems with SEO not totally working on some pages.
also, I think I need your services:) I submitted a ticket.

Just be very careful. If you already have a link in Google that is ranking very well, changing the category code could result in the fatal page not found error. Make certain that you are doing things correctly so that any pages ranking high are not negatively impacted. If you have a category page already ranking high, there is no need to change the code.

thanks for the heads up. the good (well its bad also) is my store doesn't show up in google yet (my website does some). I was trying to get the links correct first then I was going to try and get someone to help me get my site ranked within the google search engines. I actually didn't do things backwards for once lol.
I am doing google ad words but I suppose I can change the links in my ad to the new links so that shouldn't affect my ranking within ad words. Well hope it shouldn't since its based on how much you pay per keyword or whatever.
now if i can just get someone to help get my site ranked.
