View Full Version : Creating new Items

I'm formatting my first home page in MM5. I have made the global header and footer (I still need to figure nav out), but I'd like to start building the content. On the home page will be sidebar boxes (text / graphics / forms in tables) with teasers ("Weekly Specials," "Sign Up for Email," and the like).

From what I can tell, I need to create an Item for each sidebar box I would like to use and then add the Item to the page template ... but for the life of me, I can't find any information on creating Items (thus adding them to the Item library). Am I thinking about this the right way? Are Items reallly what I want to do this?

Anyway, I can see how to *use* Items, but not how to create and format them. In the documentation, on "User Interface Pages and Items" it even says at the end, "For details, see Add or Edit Items" ... but there seems to be no documentation on how to do this under the Index, Search or Glossary. Am I looking for the wrong thing? Help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Marlene

Marlene,

Unfortunately it does not work this way in MIVA Merchant 5. In MM4, using OpenUI, you used to be able to create snippets of code and call them in using OpenTokens, but this feature is currently not available in MM5. What you will need to do is code the information you want directly into the SFNT page template or under Messages/Storefront Welcome.
