View Full Version : USPS WebTools, where to get password?
I've just added the USPS rate calculation module, I registered with USPS web tools and I'm using the Copernicus Super Shipping Module with my mm5. 2 questions I could use help on:
1) Miva wants a Webtools User ID and Password but I only got a User ID from USPS, where do I get a password?
2) My CBS Super Ship module did not pickup the USPS in its list of shipping options, what do I have to do to get it to pickup the module I added?
Btw, I do have weights on 95% of my products. Do I have to have weights on every single product just to successfully install the USPS module?

1. https://secure.shippingapis.com/registration/
2. This will not happen until you can connect to the rate server.
3. You need to have weights for ALL of your products to use the rate server, otherwise you will get an error that a rate cannot be calculated if a product with a zero weight is in the order.
Hi Vic,
Thanks for responding so quickly. As to 1. I received a response from USPS, I think things must have changed recently:
Thank you for contacting the USPS Internet Customer Care Center. You may enter anything into the password field of your third party software in order to get around any field requirements the software may have. Since the webtools no longer checks for neither a password nor the contents if one is sent, any value can be entered in order to meet the requirements of your third party software.
2. How can I tell if rate server is contacted? I've put in info for both USPS and Fedex modules and am not getting any errors, yet neither is showing up in my Shipping SuperMod?
3. Thanks!

First, turn off the SuperShipping Mod until you've verified your getting rates from USPS.
Signup for a WebTools account, you still need an account with them. They just dont test for a password from MIVA, so any value will in fact do.
Follow the instructions on the email you recieve where it states to call USPS and have them switch your account to a production account. The test server does not work with MIVA. You're USPS account must be live to pull any rates at all.
Once you have that going and returning rates, then turn on the SuperShipping Mod and begin testing your rules after aquiring methods.
That did the trick, thanks!
