I am having an issue where I use CSS designed site. The area in which the product is the Text Box is size = "40". This is way to big and over writes and pushes the style off and wrecks the page. I have some experience using miva but I cant seem to find where to change the size of text boxes or that text boxes even have a class that I can create CSS to. I wish not to buy add on software as this is a client that has used just the store for a couple years but never did anything with design side of it to move fluidly across the pages and is not willing to put more money into it.
I have tons of coding experience so if I was pointing in the right direction to change the default text box size.
The client has Miva Merchant v4.20.
Thanks in advance.

Without a module, or the limited source kit & compiler, you cant. You will need a module that will give you control of the text box, like Viking Coders Templates. You did not mention which specific text box you want to fix, so I'm not sure exactly which template module or perhaps other module would allow you to edit what you're looking to edit.

The attributes would be the first to attempt to shorten. Also I notice the default for signing up to create an account and billing are all size 40.

So the PROD screen and the OINF & ACCT screens?

Product Page Templates (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=m&Product_Code=VCS-BROK_PRODTEMPLATES&ref=WPAW) and Other Page Templates (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=m&Product_Code=VCS-BROK_PAGETEMPLATES&ref=WPAW).

If the store is not already running OpenUI, you will need at least OpenUI Basic (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=m&Product_Code=OPENUI-BASIC&ref=WPAW) as well.

Viking Coders has a free module available.
http://www.vikingcoders.com/dl/CTGY/FREE

It Allows the size and maxlength of text attributes to be set in admin.
However it requires the OpenUI to be installed.

Yes, but it will not change the lengths of the text fields on the ACCT or OINF fields.

The template modules will give you MUCH more control of the display.

Ok, then the short answer is no.

You will need a module. Either OpenUI and the free one Jason mentioned, or OpenUI and the Template modules I suggested.

Ok I downloaded and the MvTools. I am unable to open the mmui.mvc. Well I do open it. but it only says miva with a box next to it.

you cannot edit (unless you are Ivo) files with a *.mvc extension. They are binary files.

Ok, yea, you can get a binary editor, figure out where "right" size of size=40 is and change it to 20...but I would rather mow the neighboors lawn for 20.00 bucks and use those proceeds to purchase a solution...would end up with a lot more time on my hands.
