upsell product limit quantity

How can I limit the quantity of my upsell item to 1?

It seems that if a customer adds an upsell item durring checkout, but then returns back to the store and adds more of the same item, he gets them at the discounted upsell price rather than the full price.

You could get creative and adjust the upsell page code to only allow one to be added to the basket - as well, hide the links back to the storefront on the checkout pages.

However this may not be feasible nor desireable for the site.

You also have an option to use Weiland's Min/Max Quantity v5 module (http://tinyurl.com/fzo5y) to restrict quantity.

So this is the default behaviour? Is it considered a bug?

The problem is if you allow the customer to go back to shopping once they have started checkout, you risk them adding more of the upsold item.

That isnt a bug, however, it is likely an overlooked negative side affect of upselling with a discount.
