Open UI features questions

I have run into multiple problems with the horrible HTML that the basic package generates. I am wondering if OpenUI solves these problems via either an entirely different approach vs mmui.mvc; or by letting me correct the bad HTML that comes from mmui.

Specifically, I need to be able to fix the following HTML issues:
- the tables that the category links appear in have a hardcoded cellpadding entry of 4;
- the navigation bar has hard spaces between the linked images;
- if you don't print all the product details, there are massive gaps where unneeded line-breaks are printed

Yes, OpenUI and VikingCoders PageTemplates (http://www.vikingcoders.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=VC&Product_Code=BUNDLE-ED&Affiliate=tomana) make it possible to integrate whatever design you got. It needs only some experience where and how to cut and paste the original HTML code to the right sections and integrate it.
