MM3, OUI, Coupla simple modules.......

Before you think I am crazy, I have a specific reason.

I have one client who wants his book to sell for a 20% discount for people who buy from a link off his website only.

Is there a way for me to make a duplicate product (new ID, of course), priced 20% less, and have it not show on the store, product list or cat tree but if somebody uses the link I spoke of they can go to the page and buy it at the reduced price?

I would like to avoid having to buy a Promotion code or discount coupon module as this will be the ONLY client that would ever need this, and one product only.

I tried linking to an old deactivated product in my store but that didn't work. it just brought up a generic page that explained:

" To remove contents, press "Remove" button next to item line.
Your shopping basket is currently empty bla bla bla........

Thanks for any and all help

No. You can hide it by not including it in any category, but it would still come up in a search or a product listing.

Why not use a coupon module and just let people use a coupon code on the page where they see the link to the product.

Besides, having a coupon module will come in handy for promotions. So never say never :)

How about setting up an Availability Group? You're client would need to provide the username and password on his site for the "group". Of course, once they're known, anyone could use them to get the discount...unless you change the password every now and then....sort of kludgy....might work though if it's just this one product.

This approach is impractical. If you publish the username/password, it would defeat the purpose as well as expose the users details if they should click on the account link.
