This is just a bit of venting...tonight after stoping by my local Socal Library I picked up a book (for humor and fun) called INTERNET RICHES...The Simple Money-Making Secrets of Online Millionaires by Scott Fox. In the section about shopping carts this guy lists
1. PAYPAL CRAP CART
2.MAl's Cart
3. Yahoo Gouge Cart
NOT ONE MENTION OF MIVA anywhere
That was it his only suggestions.

This guy sure is a Boob for more fun see.

Scott also told the readers how anyone can get in on the internet millions and to go to IPOWER for easy hosting with lots of FREE templates. I wish these people would get the idea that while doing business online Trumps anything else (my opinion) it is not for the faint of heart or get rich wannabee-that we all put in a considerable amount of time, fun (and love) into this Beast!

It's always a good way to make money by telling others how to make money and sell it. Using the word million makes it even more attractive.

Miva is a tough cookie but once you like the taste hard to resist :D

I think I am gonna write a book on how to get rich on with selling things on the internet. Then I will create a web site to sell the book at. I will also sell downloadable video clips of me reading the book to you. Kinda like your mom used to do when you were a kid at bed time. My book will tell you how to write a book about making money and getting dopes to buy it.

Wow. Pretty harsh review of my new book there. The quick answer is that anyone who reads these forums doesnt need a book like this, which was written for n00bs.
FWIW, I'm a big fan of MIVA shopping carts. They were not included in "Internet Riches" because most newbies cant handle the customization required to fully implement (MIVA can be a "tough cookie" as PCINet-Andreas says above).
The book was written for your and my moms who always ask "what do you do?" and for your uncle who says "how can I start an e-business?".
For those people the costs have come way down and web design templates (such as those offered by IPowerWeb) are a good option to get their feet wet.
I'll agree that the title of the book is over the top (and forced on me by the publishers marketing dept...) but its point is that anybody can take a crack at starting their own e-business cheaper, faster, and with less risk than ever before.
For those who do, I do recommend MIVA once they learn their way around the web and get past the eBay and Paypal stage.
For those who read the book fully, it will be clear that I agree with Shannon's premises, including the "idea that while doing business online Trumps anything else", and that "it is not for the faint of heart or get rich wannabee-that we all put in a considerable amount of time, fun (and love) into this Beast!"
So do I - I wrote the book to let other people outside the tech community get their first taste, too.

You are on the Miva 4 forum and your book doesn't even mention Miva 4. So what is the purpose of this post ... advertise your book?

BTW I saw your blog ... maybe add an entry about Miva and this way you spread the word and make the reader a millionaire :D
