I want to have some pages at a site that will only have my content on them. However, I want Miva to generate the header (and footer) so that I get the programmed links to sign-in, shopping cart, check out, etc.

If the best (only?) way to do this to create a category that has no active items in it... so the category link appears in the left tree, when the user clicks it, it brings up a category page and I just use the category header & footer to display the information ? Or is there another way to do this. (and thinking about it as I type... will Miva let me display a category if there are no products in it ? ).

Thanks for any tips

Generally, your idea is the easiest way to get this content...in fact, you can "hide" the link to the category (say if you are using a link in your top nav) by just using an transparent 1x1 gif image as the cat tree image. If you have a bunch of these pages, place them under an "top level" called content and make that top cat hidden.

And yes, Merchant will display an "empty" cat...
