There is a site that the name is mistyped allot in the url box by many....

example.... in there current domain there is a "SQ" in it....Yet most take this abbreviation and spell it out in the url as " Square "

So to combat this, they purchased a domain name that had the above abbreviation removed....

Question is, how do they point the new Domain name to the other one?? So there will be 2 url's pointing to the same site....

I didnt post the site url for its a yahoo store..... yet its my mom..so i hope you all can give me some suggestions.....

EDIT... I tried to point the current DNS on the new url to the site..yet it was rejected....

The easiest way to do this is at the registrar. Most of them will allow you to set up a simple forwarding URL. The domain is essentially hosted at the registrar but any requests are immediately forwarded to the second URL.

Another way is to actually set up a web site for the URL and create an HTML META REFRESH statement that sends the user to the other site. I don't see any need for that in your case- mostly it's done when you want to give the user a message that tells them they are being forwarded so you can smarten them up a little.

A third way would be to fool with the actual DNS records and point the second domain at the IP of the first. This only works if the primary domain has a fixed IP to point at. That's not an option with a yahoo store.

I would use the first method unless you want to notify them as in the second method. You do not need to fool with actual DNS entries (just the registrar's "URL forwarding" mechanism).

You can also have your hosting company alias your second domain to the first domain.

The simple way is to point the domain name to your hosts DNS servers through your Domain Registrar and ask your host to setup a domain pointer for that name for you.
