Hi,

I'm looking for a module that can be used to convert standard US measurements to metric in my product descriptions. Failing that, a Word macro or software that can be used on the flat data file. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Do you use Excel to keep your product information and flat file import? If so, one way would be to create custom product fields for the US and metric measurements then record the US measurements in the US customfields columns. Then, have Excel calculate and populate the metric customfields.

Thanks, but unfortunately I do not. Maybe I should start. :) Ok, next question.. anyone know an easy way to convert flat file product data to an excel fie?

A flat file is nothing more than a text file.

In Excel, in your toolbar, click on Data, Import External Data, Import Data then navigate to your flat file with your product data.

Go through the import data wizard and there you have it.

Hi Vic,

Thanks! Actually, I realized that after I posted my last message.. I tried importing the flat file into Excel, and wala!, it imported perfectly!

HOWEVER.. I still can't find an Excel add-in that will do what I need it to do. Basically, I need something that can go through all of my product data, find anything that is indicated in inches (an exact example would be 13-1/2"), convert it to centimeters, and leave everything else alone. Any ideas? :-)

Thanks again everyone!!!!!!!

Well, with very little effort searching on google, I came up with this:

Might just work. With a little more effort, I'm sure you can find one for your version of Excel.
