populate products on Storefront

How can I show a product category list ( ie "features") on my storefront page when a visitor first comes to my site?

I would like the top half of the screen to be the welcome message and the bottom half to be the product list.

I'd suggest redirecting your storefront to your PLST screen then and putting the welcome message in the PLST screen header.

You could also create a category for this... Better yet is to get Latu.net's WowWow Widget module. It does that nicely and much more.

What do you mean by "create a category for this"?

Why would I need to redirect to the PLST screen, is it not possible to show products in a category on the Storefront?

Ideally, I would like to do this without a module, I dont need anything fancy, but I dont want to hardcode the featured products with html. I just want to display products on the Storefront page that are part of the "featured products" category.

You mentioned you wanted the product list on the storefront, I didnt put two and two together that you simply wanted to display the contents of a particular category on the storefront screen.

Either redirect the storefront to that category, or handcode the product information into the SFNT screen.
