View Full Version : Paypal and Miva
We have signed on with the Paypal feature in Miva. When the customer checks out, it pops up a new window where the customer fills in their paypal account information. unfortunately, there isn't a record in miva so we can't create a packing slip. When the orders are put through paypal, we can see the information to create a packing slip but it doesn't tell what item it was and other information we would like to have. Does anyone know how I could make this work a little better?
Thanks!

Go into your store admin, then to Payment Configuration, then to the PayPal tab. Look at the very bottom of that page and it will tell you four settings that you need to have configured on the PayPal side. Once you put those in place, it should start recording those PayPal orders in Merchant like normal orders.
We have the four places filled out, but the orders aren't being put into Miva and we can't make the packing slip. This is what we have for the four places on the bottom of the paypal page in payment configuration:
Instant Payment Notification (IPN): On
Instant Payment Notification (IPN) URL: https://maxwho.com/mm5/paypalp.mvc?
Website Payment Preferences Auto Return: On
Website Payment Preferences Return URL: https://maxwho.com/mm5/paypali.mvc?Thank you for your advice David!

Is the email address set in the store the same as your primary PayPal email address? I think I remember hearing something recently that if you used a sub-address (not sure if that's the correct name) then it doesn't always work.
I am checking on the email addresses right now.
I need to redefine my question though...the customer service guy is the one who is needing me to figure these things out. And this is what he just sent me in an email. I need to know if I can do this.
"Do you think there is a way that we can get all of our Paypal Payments (through Ebay as well as our site), to come through Miva. This would make my life a whole lot easier if we could do this. It seems to make sense that we could do this. Sometimes when you shop at a store and you pay through paypal, paypal will process the payment and then send you back to the store you purchased from to let you know that your transaction is complete. I don't think that Maxwho is doing this right now. So the customer who had the problem where he paid with paypal but his cart is still showing something there would be fixed. Also, if we did this, we would need to make sure that the information that Miva sends to Paypal is accurate, has an order #, and tells me where the payment came from."
To me it sounds like something that should be done through paypals end, like redirecting the confirmation page or something. But I don't have access to our paypal accounts here so I don't know how that is set up.
My co-worker and boss are insistant that I could do this in Miva and to try that first before they work around in paypal.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for all the help!

Sending the customer back to Mechant using the return URL will also cause the order to be recorded but with those other settings configured, that part should not be necessary as it should record the order regardless. The module you found is a more robust third party paypal module but I'm not sure if it will help in this case because it also depends on those IPN settings working which they may or may not be from the sound of things.
The email address we have set in the store is the same as the primary paypal email address. What do you mean by the IPN settings?
IPN settings working which they may or may not be from the sound of things
I saw in the features of the module I was looking at that it talked about the IPN a lot. That is something in the paypal side. So do I need to have the IPN information reconfigured? What should it be saying?
Thanks for your continued help!
