Fatal Error when using update wizard

I was trying to install the patch by MIVA using the Upgrade Wizard. During the installation my modem failed and I had to reboot. When i tried to run the wizard again this is the message that I get. How can I continue reinstalling or delete the files and start over again. Thanks for your help.

MIVA Merchant encountered a fatal error during upgrade. The upgrade process has been aborted.
Error Code: PATCH-CORE-4-00001
Description: Failed to install new util.mvc

If you are 100% sure you have a complete backup of the store scripts, database and mysql if running that version, remove the contents of the mivadata/Merchant5/patches/ directory and try it again. In newer versions of Merchant this should not be done but if core 4 is not on yet then I believe it is still safe to do. May be safer to have your host take care of this issue.

No, I do not have a backup nor do I know where to find these files. This is not something that I want to mess with. I think I have the newer version since it was only installed a few months ago.
