Ideas on Incentivising Referrals

I want to give something to people who refer our website to others and was therefore wondering if there is some sort of v5 module for this (or combination of modules).

Ideally the referrer gets immediate reward for telling all their friends to come shopping, but this is not essential. Would also be nice to give them a commission on their friends' sales.

You'd need the Affiliate Manager module from Viking Coders, which allows several layers deep for referrals. However, this module is not available for v5 just yet. Keep bugging them - they are working hard on upgrading their v4 modules, and I'm sure this one is on their to-do list. ;-)

The easiest, and least administrative management required, is to use a combination of tell a friend and coupon redemption modules. The tell a friend can send the email suggesting your site to a friend. The sender sees a thank you message. The friend gets an email. The email can contain an on the fly unique coupon code which they can redeem. You can even put time limits on the coupon code. I need to do the same thing - have a way to award part of the purchase price to the referrer. It looks like the Affiliate Manager module still isn't available for Merchant 5. Are any other options available at this point? "Tell a friend" won't work because I need to have a link to my store on the referring sites.
