Owning the " Merchant optimizer " and havign a folder called "sexy lingerie" where all the statics are placed, should i infact have the "ror.xml" "sitemap.xml" and other sitemaps in that folder?

i just began to wonder this. My .htaccess is designed to always throw surfers back into the "static' pages..So should these files be in there, instead of the "root" folder.

Thanks

Anyone???

or despite the static folder with all in there, should those "sitemaps.xml", "urllist.txt", "ror.xml" and other sitemaps be in the "static folder" as the .htaccess always pushes this for the surfers.

Or should the always be in the root?

So long as you tell Google where the file is, it doesn't really matter, but I would suggest placing them in the HTML root of the file. You should also have robots.txt file in the root to block /Merchant2 or what subdirectory your merchant files are in.

Ok bruce..they are in the domain root of the website now///// i was just curious if they shoudl be in the static foldr, for this is basicaly where all the page views come from and are surfed..

Thanks

Easy to get confused, its called many things, but essentially it is the directory where your "home" page is, meaning, if you type www.yourdomain.com/index.html.

Ok....yet still confused..as there are 2 index.html made..one is in the static folder, the other is in the root or httpdocs........

and the .htaccess throws the surfer into the static....

so the domain is pointed to http://www.girlfriendslingerie.com <-----------root

yet the static off the same page can also be found in http://www.girlfriendslingerie.com/sexy-lingerie

were sexy-lingerie is the holder for all the static pages.....

Since you are using the Optimizer option as the site's "home page", it would the second index.html page at: http://www.girlfriendslingerie.com/sexy-lingerie
is not used.

BTW: these questions are probably best addressed via support email through the module itself.

So i should not create the index static for the sexy-lingerie folder...i was thinkign this may be seen as double content.....so i shouold erase the index in that folder and only create static for the root....

One page that is the same wont matter...besides. In the opinion of SEOs that I respect and a google staffer, duplicate content, WITHIN THE SAME DOMAIN...does not cause a problem...that being said, it doesn't help either.
