Hi Everyone,
I am a very beginner in MIVA. I am a PHP programmer. I want to learn MIVA. I want to learn it but still don't know why should anyone use MIVA rather than PHP. What is the advantage of using Miva. And as a begginer I dont know where and how to start. If anyone let me know, where I can get a step by step tutorial on Miva that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

MIVA Merchant is written in MIVA Script, which is its own scripting language.
It is a scalable, customizable storefront software with many third party add-ons (modules) that allow end users (or their developers) to add functionallity and tools without coding or with little coding.
If you are a PHP programmer, then you would probably want to look at Merchant 5, rather than Merchant 4. Merchant 5 can make use of MySQL as the database and you could write PHP front ends to handle some of the data display.
You're best bet to get started is to read the product documentation available at http://smallbusiness.miva.com for the products and developers.

Thanks for your reply. I would like to get some sample code of MIVA 5. I am little bit confused about the coding structure. Please send me some sample code if possible.
Thanks in advance...

Merchant 5 uses the same coding structure as Merchant 4. Look at MIVA's website under Documentation and the Developers section.
Merchant 5 however, uses new Store Morph Technology in its template scripting, which is NOT MIVAScript, but based on MIVAScript and HTML.
For examples of this code, see your MM5 store templates.
