Additional (custom) Category Fields would be so useful.
Is there an MM5 module that does this?

Either that or something like Wieland's Flexible Product Description but for Categories.

(I know it's possible to be creative and use the category header and footers as 'custom fields', but what if they are already being used?)

I second the need for this type of module. Anyone interested in getting it done?

I too need this feature. It was available with Merchant4 and it makes upgrading to Merchant5 tricky if you want to be consistent in how you display category information.

Do anyone know if this feature is in the works?

What are some examples of custom fields that you want?

I need Custom Category Fields for work title, paper size, style, and link to the work's description.

The website I'm currently working on sells rare antique prints. Each subcategory is generally a work (a collection of prints) by an artist. When the subcategories display I need it to not only show the subcategory name (the artist's name) but also the other information listed above.

To see specifcally what I'm talking about see this page on the current Merchant4 site: http://rareprintsgallery.com/merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=bird
The date, size, style, and description links listed with each category are data in Custom Category Fields.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks. -Joshua

And why can't you use the Category Header for this?

I need to display the Custom Category Fields on the subcategory listings, as it is on http://rareprintsgallery.com/merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=bird

Is there a way to display the Ctgy Header information on the subcategory listing page? I use Sebenza's Category Template Manager module for subcategory listings.

Thanks. -jb

If you are in the loop for the sub category, calling the local ctgy header variable should bring up the category header for the sub cat...but best to ask Sebenza in case that variable is different from the standard category header variable.

It's been about 2 years...is there now a module or good method for custom category fields. We are trying to make the title tag different than the standard category-name related one.

I can't get to your http://rareprintsgallery.com/merchan...gory_Code=bird (http://rareprintsgallery.com/merchant/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=bird) page but it sounds to me like what you're wanting to do is add custom product fields and then display those fields on the category page. With MM5 you can add the custom product fields. Then go the CTGY page and check the box next to your new fields to activate them. If you don't like the way the category is displaying the product information click on the advanced link at the bottom of the CTGY page. Here you should be able to see how Miva is calling the custom product fields and you can change it to display the page as you want.

If you need to display more that one style of a category page go with Sabenza's Custom Category Template.

I know how to use the custom product fields (including show them on a category view). What I would like is for the category name to be different from the one presented in the title tag or etc. Most of this is for SEO purposes on our site.

Then use a meta tags module such as from LATU or ADS
