Not sure this is really SMT but I thought I'd start here.
I need to create seriously extensive attribute templates to handle the conference bookings.
The usability of the current form for adding attribute fields is awful when you have a large number of fields to add.
I would like to modify the form to improve the usability. I'd also ideally like to be able to save previous templates so I can use them as, well as a template for a new template I need to make.
Any idea how I can best achieve this?

Have you looked at Attribute Templates, a feature already built into Merchant?
http://docs.smallbusiness.miva.com/en-US/merchant/5/webhelp/about_attribute_templates.htm
You can create sets of commonly used attributes sets then assign them to product that uses the exact same set of attibutes as needed and assign them by simply importing a flat file.

Hi Vic
Thanks for the reply.
I am currently using the Attributes Template but it is it's usability that is causing me problems.
Each conference whilst similar will usually vary enough to make it impossible to apply a standard existing template.
So I have to create a new template from scratch and this takes ages, mostly because the usability is so poor as the number of fields increases.
So I would like to access the source code for the Attributes Template form and modify it.
I hope that makes what I am after a little clearer?
Cheers

Ok, I understand now...
Then you really ought to invest in ADS' Attribute Master v5 Module (http://tinyurl.com/s8msn). It is currently the only attribute module that gives you access to the HTML for the attributes, short of writing your own component.

Dont forget about the Product Template Manager (http://www.sebenza.com/products/SS-PRODTEMPLATES5.html). This module gives you full template control over attributes plus a lot more!

Thank you Scott, I was not aware that your template also allowed access to the attribute html also.
I'll keep that in mind for future recommendations.

Sorry Vic and Scott - I had replied but Julie mailed me to say my replies were going to the administrator instead of the list - so hopefully this reply will appear whewre it should.
Scott - does Product Template Manager allow you to create an attribute template and then reuse this, with minor modifications across multiple products.
For example, I create a generic attirbute template for a typical conference. I thne use this as the basis for creating specific templates for specific conferences.
Also, does it improve the usability?
Perhaps I could test drive it and purchase it if it does what I need?
Thanks
Ambrose

Yes, the module allows you to create as many templates as you like.
