View Full Version : Miva's Affiliate Program
From reading the board, I can see that everyone does not like Miva's affiliate program. I do not have people knocking down my door to be an affiliate so there is no point in purchasing another module as of yet. The only thing I need to do is keep track of sales generated by Yahoo, Shopzilla, and Froogle. I created each account in affiliates (YA, FR, SH) and added the necessary Affiliate=YA at the end for Yahoo. I clicked on the link in Yahoo to go to my item and checked out and nowhere does it show up that Yahoo got the credit. Did I do something wrong?

No, you didn't do anything "wrong" - that is the problem with the built-in affiliate program in MIVA Merchant (all versions, it seems...) Since you previously already visited your own store, your web browser already had a cookie saved on your PC telling it a few things about your past visits. The affiliate link from Yahoo! would only work now if you manually deleted these cookies and this was your "first" new visit to your store. That would generate a new cookie, and hopefully the tracking info required to credit the YA affiliate for this sale.
I would recommend contacting Viking Coders to see when/if they are going to release v5 of their EXCELLENT Affiliate Manager module. Once that is available, you'll be able to properly track your affiliate referrals without any problems.
