I read on the forum that newer versions of dbfUtils and Miva don't play nicely. Is this true? And if so which version of dbfUtils should I use?

Some versions seem to have this issue with exiting properly on XP; the one I have on my laptop from about 8 months ago will write out the changed file so it's safe to upload it back, but then it will give some dumb error and I have to kill it in the task list.

Not free, but DBFView seems to be rock solid. I've never had any problems with it. Might want to check it out at http://www.dbfview.com

Here's one I've found. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet though.

I have another I've been using, but I can't find the link. I'll post it later.
