Please let me know.

I was wondering how you are coping with the issue of being unable to reinstall modules now that Modstop and the modstop server (required for installation of modules) has gone offline.

My apologies to those who say, just upgrade or use alternative modules, but at this point in time, the path of least resistance is required so if somebody has a smart suggestion of how they have handled this problem...thanks.

BTW, I am using non-compiled modules.

Thanks.

I have some that are already installed, so I don't have the reinstallation issue. The solution, assuming it still works, is to search and replace http://www.modstop.com with http://204.10.71.108/ in the uncompiled source, or put that ip in your hosts file.

We use compiled modules that have already been installed. But I think the only modstop mods we are still using are some import/export modules.

For anyone using CurrencyTrk, there is a replacement available for uncompiled or compiled Miva (MM5 version coming soon, in beta now) at a very reasonable price:

This will no longer work either, as the site is completely offline now.

Best solution is to upgrade to compiled Merchant and install replacement modules.

we are still using MemberTrk. Love the module, but we'll replace it soon enough.

Paul,

I'll second Vic's suggestion to move/upgrade to compiled MM 4.24/OpenUI. You'd have many more options available to you and it will be faster. And, if you do go to compiled, I may be able to help you out with whatever Modstop modules you have.

I can tell you the state of Modstop modules was pretty bleak compiled or uncompiled. The popularity of VC Templates made most of the modules useless or very hard to use. 95% of the modules don't have OpenToken capability.

I am actualy trying pick up where SB21 left off. But my roll-out of modules has been slow and crawling. Levi took over the modules for the most part when Darren focused on OpenUI, but IMO, Levi left them in shambles. The amount of work needed for these modules, once great modules, is almost a rewrite because of where and what everybody is expecting to be able to do.

The amount of work I need to bring some of these mods into play is why I cannot release any for version 4.13 or prior. I also have customizations and sponsored modules in the que.

There is also the issue of MM5. I have to find some time to develop MM5 modules. There is still a huge hole in what's available yet for MM5. I have too many ideas for my own good.

You can contact me directly if you'd like.
