View Full Version : Upsale Module
Is there anyway to show images for the final upsale prior to checkout, rather than just text?
Also i know of upsale magic, yet im not really sure if i want to give more options on the product pages themselves, at least im not thinking so as of now.
The only reason im asking these questions is to try to lesson the amount of abandoned carts and the upsale has been engaged for quite some time, yet with no images, its hard to tell what they are without going back, and at that point, there minds have deviated from the checkout sections.
Or is there a better solution out there that i havent seen?
Ive done alot of adjusting these last few days and this is one of the areas im trying to iron out
Thanks

Crosstown has a mod just for thumbnails and upsale, sebenza has a template module just for upsell screen (http://www.jmhonline.net/mivamerchantmodules/Upsell_Display_Modules/), and viking has other page templates (http://www.jmhonline.net/miva-modules/page+templates) that includes single and multiple uspell templates.

Some really quick general thoughts. Note, with your product line you should expect a lot higher percentage of abondoned baskets has 13-year old boys don't have credit carts <G>.
Display Shipping Prices earlier...encourage users to buy more, pay less for shipping. You offer Free Shipping...this should be bold on EVERY page.
Explain Login Page...make No Account Check out more obvious (use LOGN Header for this informaiton)
Remove Phone # as Required for custom information (few put in actual #'s anyway)
Remove Company/FAX (don't think its relevent here either...the fewer the boxes the better).
Make Nav buttons more prominitent (Go to Checkout, Continue Checkout, etc)
Add Step 1 of 4 to the basket and onward screens. Again, use the Headers/Footers for this.
Fix things that are broken...when checking out, was presented with Special Offers for Malibu Slippers...In advertently clicked Add, and then could not Opt Out of that offer...Would suggest using upsales that are simple Yes, No...(i.e. no options.

If you use an Upsale product with Attributes..make sure the ADD and NO THANKS buttons are VERY obvious...if you inadvertenlty click your Add button, and do not select an attribute, there is no way out of Missing Attribute selection except to use the back button. In general, I do not suggest using products with Attributes on Upsale. Upsale is like the candy at the check out stand...don't make the customer think: just react.
Also, in general, I would make your Add to Basket and other buttons, more like buttons. I know a lot of sites use fancy images...but I really don't think that helps the cause of the shopper. Using CSS or even images that look like button can increase the appeal of the button while maintaining is appearance as an "action".

Ok Bruce I see your point indeed. Too help the over appeal, i just bought a upsale module that will allow the pic(s) to show and includes the " No thank you" button also.
We also brought down the number of "upsale" prods to eliminate that "need to think" phrase you mentioned. That term really means allot, as no one wants a customer to be taken away from the objective at hand.
Again i thank you for the review and looking over the site. Hopefully the "upsale" template I made is much more appealing and easier for the customer as he can stay on the same page now and make all decisions from one locale.
