View Full Version : Cookie issues?
Looking at this module http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&store_code=m&product_code=TRUXOFT-MMP3P&ref=truxoft and what we have been receiving alot of lately is abandoned carts......
Readin the profile on that module, would anyone suspect that possibly this could be a reason perhaps, at least for some visitors....
Years ago we had similar issues with AOL users and cookies, so much so that I had a special mesaage to enable cookies for AOL users to checkout....
This makes me think if this has risen again with so many disabling there cookies for security reasons today...
Any thoughts on this

If you have OpenUI, it by default sets a mode to detect if cookies are on or off and allow shopping without cookies.
P3P is certainly important, especially to those using IE6.
However, I would look at other things like 'shipping shock' for abandoned baskets. Viking Coders ELM2 Stats (http://tinyurl.com/ootft) is a great tool to help you identify where customers are bailing out, so you can focus there and try to determine what might be scaring them off from converting the sale.
Thanks Vic for the info...
Vic looking at that module and it does indeed look good. Would it still be effective as im using the Merchant optimizer for static pages. Would these be tracked or would the general over all power of that module be hampered.
Or I should say this
Would these be tracked or would the general over all power of that module be hampered with anything outside of /Merchant2

You'd have to ask Bruce about that. He's the one to ask about compatibility with Merchant Optimizer.
Ok I fired a message to Bruce.....
Gosh I hope im not driving this man insane:D

There would be no difference since the issue is whether or not the user's computer will acept the cookie your site offers because the actual cookie creation will happen when the user enters Merchant from the static page.
