I'm assigning active products to categories, but they aren't showing up in the category store display.
When I examine one of these products and click on the link to display the product...
http://mydomain.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=DP
...I get:
Miva Merchant has encountered a fatal error and is unable to continue. The following information may assist you in determining the cause of the error:
Error Code: MER-DTB-00073 Description: Product 'DP' not found
Huh? Now where do I find out what MER-DTB-00073 means?

You don't have to - there's an "english" description of the error. "Product 'DP' not found"..... You are linking to a product with code DP and that product does not exist in your store.

Make sure the product is active (checkbox active in Miva admin product setting).

That's the part I don't understand - product "DP" does exist...

And it is active.

What happens when you pack the store databases? Get any errors?

When I make a product inactive and try to access it via the link, I get a Fatal error, but a different code...
MER-DTB-00371
But it still says "Product not Found". Product "DP" is active and it gives 'MER-DTB-00073'.
This is driving me nuts.

Well there ya go.
You have corruption in your databases that will need to be corrected first.
Although those are errors in the UPS databases, and should not be causing any trouble with your products.
Try deleting the product, packing and re-entering the product.
You'll still need to have that error in the UPS databases corrected. Try clicking on the Update Tables button in your UPS module first, then pack and see if that fixes the error. If not, you'll have to have someone repair the database for you, if you are not familiar with editing dbf files with an appropriate editor.
We do offer database repair services at reasonable rates, should you need to hire someone to fix it.

Thanks for the suggestions - the UPS error disappeared after updating the tables.
But the product error still exists. There are more products besides 'DP' that fail the same way, yet other products work fine. i guess I will try deleting the bad ones and re-adding them. I can't find the dbf's anyway - OpenMaintenance sez they are at 'Merchant2/00000001/products.dbf' but the's no 00000001 directory there.
Just wish someone know what that error code meant. I fear I may run into the same issue again and still not know what's going on.
Anyway, thanks a bunch all.

Don't confuse yourself<G>...the problem is still within the databases...Merchant most likely can not find the product because the internal product indentifiers are not aligned correctly. Andreas was merely pointing out another common way that product found errors occur.

As a last resort, delete and readd the product.

You're not looking in the right place. If you dont find a /Merchant2/00000001 directory, that would be because you are looking in your scripts directory rather than your data directory. Look in miva, mivadata, htsdata or something similar.
