Hi,
I am relatively new with Miva and would appreciate any help. I am working with the standard Miva 4 tools provided and I am not a programmer. I wish to change the layout of the store and locate products, pricing and buttons. is there a way to do so without having to learn heavy programming?
Also, something that bothers me a lot is: the attribute do not display together with the thumbnail and buying buttons, they show up only after clicking the thumbnail to go to details of product.
Thanks

What you need is OpenUI and a few modules that will allow you to change the look and feel of the store. For MM v4 your best bet modules are Product Page Templates, Category Page Templates and Other Page Templates - all three from Viking Coders (http://www.vikingcoders.com).
As far as the attributes not showing on the category page - that's normal. The category page is just a listing of products within the category. To get ALL details for each product, you need to click on that product first. Or, if you click on "Add to basket" on the category page and any of the attributes are marked as required, the very next screen will prompt you to make appropriate selections.

In reverse order:
You are referring to what is called the Category Display screen (or Category Product List). By default, this is sort of a Chapter table of contents...attributes and other product details are usually shown when going to the Product Detail screen (clicking the image or product name). While you can display almost all product detail on the Category Display screen, you cannot show attributes or related product without additional modules.
Now the first part. For general and overall appearance of the store, you can do a lot with some creativity by using the standard options provided. www.mivahelp.com has a some ideas of these "standard" approaches.
However, most folks use a third party module called OpenUI. Now, whether OpenUI requires programming skills depends on how far you want to take your redesign. It certainly requires some additional learning...(same as standard Merchant, but because there are more things in there, there is more to learn).
You can obtain OpenUI at www.designextend.com.
Usually members of this forum can provide pretty much step by step instructions if you provide specific descriptions of what you want to do.
