We need to somehow have Florida Tax rates implented in the tax calculation. For instance, Florida is taxed by county, and a zipcode could be in 2 different counties. Has anyone else implemented some sort of work around with this?

Then you would use NetBlazon's Zip Based Sales Tax Module v5 (http://www.mivacentral.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?store_code=m&screen=PROD&product_code=NETBLAZON-ZIPTAX5&ref=WPAW)

Oops sorry, misread that. Yes a zip can cross counties. But I think right now, this is the closest module.

Thanks, we've already hit them up about customizing that module for this purpose. However, I can't believe no one else has encountered this problem.

Its not really a question of it not being needed, its the time it takes to convert MM4 modules to MM5.

Documentation for MM5 just recently became available, and API docs are still being worked on.

Hard for many developers to work in the dark like that.

Especially those that worked with OpenUI enabled modules previously.

Most Florida businesses just collect 7% and pay it out at that rate; the state doesn't mind taking the extra quarter to half percent if the sale had been destined to some of the few counties with lower percentages. :) There used to be a module called Certitax for Merchant that would give accurate real-time sales tax calculations but for some reason it was never released in Merchant 5 and there was no explanation of why that was.

We do business in Florida and that's exactly what we do. We just charge a base tax rate and call it a day. We haven't had a single complaint about it in over five years.

We just charge a flat rate of 7% to our FL customers. I've never had a customer complain, and like David said, the state never minds getting extra money.
