uninstall a module

what's the basic rule for uninstalling a module (i.e. how do i do it?) is it the same to just uncheck the "active" box? i need to uninstall a module, and i'm not sure how. thanks!

First make sure the module is not active in the store itself - ie: uncheck it from the store's extensions or utilities list. Then in the MODULES tree either deactivate it by unchecking the ACTIVE checkbox like you mentioned, or outright delete the module if you are 100% sure you won't need it. You can always reinstall all modules, including MIVA's stock modules, as long as you keep a backup of the corresponding .mvc files, so perhaps make a backup of your store script files first, just in case something does go wrong...
