View Full Version : Affilliate Program
We have been delaying starting an affilliate program because he have been waiting for a better solution than what is currently available in Miva Merchant 5 itself. I have only heard bad things about it. Can you guys reccommend a solution?
Should we just start with the default Miva Merchant Affilliate program?
Are there significant problems with it that I should be aware of?
Is there a 3rd party affilliate program releasing within the next month for Miva 5?
Should I use something independent of Miva? Are there drawbacks to this. Thanks,
Asim Khan

No, do not use miva'a affiliate program. It is horrible in function and features. Go with post affiliate pro like sebenza suggested

Hello All,
What are some features and functionality you would want to see in an affiliate program?

Hello All,

Checkout viking's affiliate manager especially cookies and associated affiliates with customers
http://jmhonline.net/miva-modules/affiliate+manager
The additional feature to that mod is ability to set commission on a per product basis.

Well I do have a dilemma... I have been using Weiland's Coupon Module (successfully). The problem is that I want my affiliates to be able to have about extend about a 10% discount to their referring audience, but if I am using coupons, I am worried they will use the 10% referral and the coupon to gain an even bigger discount.
Is there something I can/should do to prevent this?
Or is this just a small bonus for people that figure this out and just a cost of getting more business?
Jimmy,
One thing that is troubling with the Miva program (from what I have heard) is that clients can't login and see how much their referrals have brought in.

Hi Asim,
Actually, there is an Affiliate Login page for your store's affiliates where they can login, update their contact info, get a banner image and URL for your store, and see how much they've made from commissions. That's part of the standard system.
We have a few clients using PostAffiliatePro and IDevDirect. They are both php applications.
Same here. PostAffiliatePro integrates well with Miva Merchant.

Sure they can from the admin like in v4. Just might not be accurate.

I went with Post Affiliate pro and cannot for the life of me figure out how to only offer commisions on the subtotal and the the total that includes tax and shipping. I bought Weilands toolkit to try to get variables, but its still hard to figure out how to get it right. You cant exactly test the invoice page over and over without submitting orders. Do you have any suggestions?

I bought this product and for the life of me cannot get it to register my sales. It was easy when I did percentage commisions on the total. But who would pay commission on shipping and taxes..so i asked to have help with commission on the subtotal. I bought the Toolkit to create variables, I have even had code given to me by a member of this forumn. But nothing is working. Do you clients pay commisions on Sub-totals..any idea how I might do this?? This is so frustrating. I need help please..I have to get this thing working!

Unfortunately, you will probably have to seek help from that software vendor. It is unrelated to MIVA Merchant, other than its pulling sales data from it....it operates completely separately.

i know there are alot of better affiliate programs out there - but what do you need an affiliate program to do? Track a sale - and it does do that. I dont know exactly how much affiliate marketing you do - and your needs. but as you suggested - for starting - i think its more than enough for what you need and having your own aff tracking - blows away what many people are using - thrid party services such as share-a-sale --stay away from these like the plague.
