We are running 5.x and get a blank order submitted about once/twice a week. See below... can this be fixed? It's annoying having to contact the customer and explain that there was a technical issue and we that they have to reorder.

After contacting the customer, have you noticed any similarities amongst the blank orders or differences between them and the ones that come through?

I have had a couple clients with the same issue... no patterns or evidence found yet.

Are those clients all on MIVA Merchant 5 also?

I've found the reason for this is people "sit" on the credit card payment page for long enough that the basket is cleared by Miva and the stock is returned to the shelf.

I've had one customer confirm this for sure was the case. She placed an order, chose to pay by credit card, then waited 3 hours for her husband to come home and enter the credit card details.

We simply contact the customer and tell them that we have their money and what were the items they wanted.

The only solution is to have very long basket timeouts which is bad for a company with limited stock quantities in some or many items (because customers aboting their shopping hold onto your stock for extended periods).

Ok, I've verified this as a bug in MIVA Merchant 5. In previous versions, a warning message would come up saying that due to the basket contents being changed, the order must be restarted. This is not happening in MIVA Merchant 5.

The bug has been entered into our bug tracker for Development to review.
